3 Reasons Why Your Amazon Sales Should Not Be Ignored

Over the past decade, Amazon has been at the forefront of innovations in the retail sector that has enabled customers to get products faster and helped grow businesses. As a result of this, Amazon continues to grow every day and are constantly introducing new concepts to help customers get what they want as quickly as possible.

The days of ignoring Amazon as part of your sales strategy are long gone. Whilst it may seem like a real headache full of pitfalls and problems, it really doesn’t need to be with our help.

In this article, we will be going through 3 reasons why you should wait no longer to start focusing on your Amazon presence.

Changing Customers Habits and Expectations

With the introduction of Prime shipping, next day delivery is increasingly becoming the main reason why a customer chooses to purchase a product from Amazon. Many products on Amazon with Prime shipping can be ordered up until 7pm and arrive the next day for no extra delivery charge if they are a Prime customer.

In a number of cities in the UK, Amazon now offer Same-Day delivery for Prime members.

Before Amazon introduced Next Day delivery in the UK, would customers expect products to be delivered next day as standard? Probably not. Now they have this nailed and are slowly introducing Same-Day delivery into parts of the UK, you can already guess what customers expectations will be in the very near future.

Strong Listings on Amazon can Influence a Buyers Purchasing Decision Elsewhere

When a customer is purchasing a product, either from a different online retailer or from a brick and mortar shop, many times their journey can either start on Amazon or be used during their purchasing decision. Check out the image below for data compiled by Amazon on these journeys.

Now, you may have thought that some consumers are using Amazon to help purchase elsewhere but the actual number is truly staggering. 59% of shoppers end their purchase elsewhere but use Amazon either at the start or during their purchasing decision. They use Amazon to check out a products full features and benefits or to find out how customers have reviewed the product.

For example, if your brand is selling £10,000 worth of items through Amazon in a month, the value of sales purchased elsewhere but influenced by Amazon in some way is £14,390 giving a total value of £24,390. This just goes to show how much of an influence Amazon can have on a products success.

Amazon Continues to Grow and Expand Rapidly

The number of Amazon Prime members worldwide is now over 100 million, according to Jeff Bezos himself in a letter to shareholders at the start of 2018. Put into perspective, this would make it the 14th most populous country in the world and the 2nd largest in Europe (behind Russia).

As you can see from the image below, Amazon's growth has increased significantly in the past 3 years, even with Brexit hanging over everyone's heads. To have grown 25% year on year in a mature online UK market shows us two things: That the UK public are increasingly turning to Amazon for items they want and that Amazon has much more potential and room to grow.

Hopefully you can see why we believe Amazon should no longer be ignored from your sales strategy and how having a dedicated 3rd party seller can really help you.
